Indian River Citrus Museum

In the late 1800’s, early Florida settlers began the commercial cultivation of citrus and an industry was born. Indian River Lagoon country, which is along the middle of the eastern coast of Florida, proved to be the prime location for growing the finest citrus in the world.

LaPorte Farms petting farm is a uniquely beautiful farm located in Sebastian, Florida. Established in 1994 by Sebastian resident Laura LaPorte. Laura grew up on a farm with cattle, goats, chickens, and horses. Her love for animals is carried out today in this meticulously maintained farm. Has been described as Sebastian’s best-kept secret. Set on an estate of five acres. We are handicap accessible. Service dogs are welcome. Have lunch with us on the weekends. McKee Botanical Garden
McKee Jungle Gardens was the vision of land developers Arthur McKee and Waldo Sexton, who purchased the 80-acre tropical hammock in 1922 with the intention of cultivating citrus. The property’s natural beauty was deemed too special in its native state to disturb so McKee and Sexton identified a new purpose for the land.

Snorkel the SS Breconshire
A short swim from shore, in shimmering clear waters, lies a reef structure unlike any other in Florida. It’s a shipwreck that settled in 15 – 20 feet of water off the coast of Vero Beach. Parents and young ones can easily snorkel the SS Breconshire shipwreck to discover its boiler, which once powered the ship’s engine – observe the bow’s shape, now surrounded by rich sea life. Here in this underwater paradise, four parallel reefs are home to 400 different species of marine life, in addition to the late 19th-century shipwreck. Snorkelers may spot lobsters, stingrays, and jewel-toned tropical fish. Depending on the season, you may even observe an endangered loggerhead sea turtle.
